Why does influence matter — and why does TECCA focus on it?

Influence is the force behind leadership. It determines whether people follow your lead, engage with your ideas, and stay motivated during uncertainty. Unlike authority, influence can't be assigned — it must be earned.

Is TECCA a personality test?

No. The TECCA Influence System™ is not a personality tool like DISC or MBTI. It is a behavioral insight framework that helps individuals understand and improve how they influence others across five foundational domains: Trust, Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Credibility, and Adaptability.


How is TECCA different from other assessments?

·  TECCA is behavior-based, not trait-based

·  Focuses on influence in action, not static labels

Where did TECCA come from?

The TECCA Influence System™ was developed by Donald C. Kunkel Jr., based on the Five Foundations of Influence Framework™ introduced in his book, The Foundations of Influence: The Power to Lead & Inspire.

That book laid the foundation for a behaviorally grounded model of leadership that connects theory to action. From that foundation, TECCA was born — creating a system that includes an assessment, a personalized influence report, and coaching-ready development insights for individuals, teams, and organizations.


Is TECCA validated?

The TECCA model is based on proven leadership science, including elements of:

·  Emotional Intelligence (Goleman)

·  Servant Leadership (Greenleaf)

·  Transformational Leadership (Bass)

·  Situational Leadership (Hersey & Blanchard)

·  Leadership models informed by military doctrine, including the Army's leadership requirements and the Air Force's leadership qualities framework

While not clinically validated at scale, TECCA's structure and questions are grounded in decades of field-tested leadership and behavioral research.

No. TECCA is a leadership development tool, not a hiring screen. It is best used to:

What does TECCA stand for?

TECCA is an acronym for the Five Foundations of Influence™:
